Happy Birthday Julzy!

Last night was a blast! Sorry i coundnt make it to the ID outing thingy, but it was one of my good mates birthday and she decided to celebrate it in a storm water drain in South Yarra.
I met up with some friends to go and help set everything up at about 6 oclock last night, by which time it was really starting to pour so we were quite nervous about herding 20 - 30 people down an abandoned drain to the point that we were concidering calling everyone up and moving the party else where. But when we actually got down there, we found that the water level wasn't too bad and we had hear from a friend in cave clan that there was a manhole was could get out from at the far end so we decided to press ahead. The enterance to the tunnel is about the width of a road lane with a river of water about a metre wide running down the centre. Inside it was pitch black and seemed to go on for about 2 or 3 blocks before it opened up into a wider chamber with lendges along all the walls complete with couches and rugs. All the walls were painted in awsome murals and all sorts of posters. There was absolutely no light in there but we brought bags of candles with us and we lined the ledges with them creating an awsome eery feel to the place. That combined with the bjork playing out of the portable sterio we brought with us was quite spectacular.
A little while later friends started turning up and a the whole party in a drain thing when done surprisingly well and it ended up bring an absolutely fantastic night. Muddy cuffs and big grins all round.

Two brave adventures head into the unknown.

Flash photography really does do this place justice. You really have to see it in the candle light...

Here's a big grin from the birthday girl :D

hmmm

I had quite the interesting day today...
After sleeping in too late to go draining with Oliva and co., I decided to go and check out Mayaproject at C.E.R.E.S with some friends.
Mayaproject is kind of a hippy fair/dance party/spiritual gathering that is aparently going to be monthly affair from now on.
So i rocked up there at about 3ish after many a hassel with the trains not running between boxhill and camberwell for some reason... Anyway, it seemed to a very small, subdued affair with a handfull of people lounging around in the sun listening to some nice dub, not really worth the $10 entry fee, but id come all this way...
It didnt take us long find some people we knew and their were some pretty nice tunes playing so it was all good.
Being a hippy gathering, there were serveral workshops going on around the place including lucid dreaming, yoga and dance and other forms of new age healing. I was pretty interested in trying kundalini yoga as id read quite abit about it, so some friend and i turned up at the place and time allocated for the workshop. It didnt take long for us to realise some thing was wrong. This was kundalini, but it wasnt yoga... it was kundalini dance, completely with chanting and other strange noises. Too late to back out now. Two of the things im probably least comfortable with are singing and dancing and now is doing both of them in the wierdest possible way infront of a somewhat amused crowd. I couldnt even see my comfort zone from here.
I did feel good to have done it though, and the actual workshop proved have some interesting effects (although it probably would have been a bit more effective in a more relaxed environment. Not an experience ill be repeating in a hurry though.
